Abstract

This paper studies the effect of gender, age and Home Educational Resources index (HER) on the performance of the Moroccan’s eighth grade students in mathematics as part of the TIMSS 2015 survey (Trends international Mathematics and Science Study). Multilevel analysis results show that the variance explained at the school level is 26.43%. They also show that the HER index and students’ age are positively correlated with students’ achievement in mathematics and boys are favored over girls.
