Abstract

Experimental data of the eutectic and melting point temperatures of terminal elements under pressure are accumulated for the binary systems. The ratio of the eutectic temperature to the mean melting point temperatures is represented as a function of pressure. In most of the binary systems, the ratio decreases as increasing pressure. When the ratio of KEM(P) at pressure P to KEM(0) at atmospheric pressure is plotted as a function of P, the relationship is approximately represented as a curve of second degree. With the application of the equation, the prediction of unknown eutectic temperatures of the In–Zn system is tried at given pressures.
