Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the relationship between the attitudes of individuals towards traditional and complementary alternative treatment and their health perceptions. This cross-sectional study was carried out with 300 individuals. The data were collected by using a descriptive information form, the Complementary and Alternative Medicine Attitude Scale and Health Perception Scale. It was determined that 20.7% of the participants used alternative treatment; most used herbal products and utilized alternative treatment to protect their health. There was a positive relationship between attitudes towards complementary alternative treatment and health perceptions. Educational level, chronic diseases and status of having knowledge about alternative treatment affected its usage, and as the perceptions of health increased, positive attitudes towards alternative treatment also increased.
