Abstract

Objective To understand the status of study engagement and professional adaptability of Chinese medical college students, and to explore their relevance, and measures of improve teaching efficiency and academic achievement. Methods The research object is undergraduate students of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Stratified random cluster sampling was used, choose 700 undergraduate from grade 2013 to 2016 major in traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, and grade 2014 to 2016 major in pharmacy and nursing to conduct a questionnaire survey, using learning input and professional adaptability scale, the data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, independent samples t test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis and multivariate linear regression analysis. Results There were 599 effective questionnaire had been acquire. The mean scores of study engagement and professional adaptability was (3.17±0.68) and(2.86±0.53), respectively. The adaptability of acupuncture and massage professional students is the highest(116.51±14.98), nursing students is lowest(104.42±17.05). Professional learning motivation and behavior and self-efficacy dimension of professional adaptability have positive prediction to study engagement (r=0.611, P<0.01). Conclusions The levels of study engagement and professional adaptability are all in the medium and there is a positive correlation between the two variable. So, students could understand the program to improve their professional occupation desire and enthusiasm and to improve the professional adaptability.The higher of the professional adapted of students is helpful to improve the level of learning engagement and the learning quality.
