Highlights
The US economy is currently in a time of major transition, as it moves from an agriculture and manufacturing to information economy
Physics is the foundation of contemporary technologies, high school physics is a prerequisite for most STEM careers
High school students are reluctant to learn it – only 1/3 of US high school students take physics; at the same time there is a significant shortage of qualified physics teachers - only 1/3 of all high school physics teachers have a degree in physics education
