Abstract

Problems of flow through a given region of nonisotropic porous medium may be solved by means of an equivalent isotropic flow region obtained from the given region by an appropriate scale change. The derivation of these scales is based on the similarity between the equations describing the flow in both systems. Several special cases of flow of a single liquid and two liquids under confined and phreatic conditions are considered. The scales derived in this way are most useful in model investigations.
