Abstract

This chapter explores a fundamental question in the self-disclosure field: How is self-disclosure related to psychopathology? This can lead us to at least four underlying questions. Does the disclosure of individuals with psychopathology differ from that of individuals without such pathology? What is the nature of any difference? Why would such a difference exist? Finally, what are the implications of such a difference for helping us understand either psychopathology or the phenomenon of self-disclosure?
