Abstract
In my previous column I discussed how the Royal College of Physicians is beginning to examine how the medical profession should adapt in response to the new demands of the modern healthcare service (Castledine, 2005). I suggested that some rethinking was needed with regard to the doctor/patient relationship. In this column I would like to raise certain issues relating to the doctor/nurse relationship.
