Abstract
Thought-Action Fusion (TAF) has been consistently identified as an important cognitive construct in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). However, some recent studies have highlighted other variables such as negative affect (Abramow-itz, Whiteside, Lynam, & Kalsy 2003) and magical ideation (Einstein & Menzies, 2004a) that may be important in further understanding this construct. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between negative affect, magical thinking, thought-action fusion, and obsessive compulsive symptomatology One hundred and thirty seven participants completed four questionnaires pertaining to the variables of interest. Both TAF and magical ideation were significantly related to obsessive compulsive symptomatology, with magical ideation having the stronger relationship.
