Abstract

AbstractThis study investigates the mediating effect of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on the link between green transformational leadership (GTL) and task performance. We collected the time‐lagged data from employees in Chinese hospitality industry. Further, we used regression analysis for testing. We found that GTL has a direct relationship with task performance. Also CSR mediates the positive link between GTL and performance. We highlighted the key relationship of CSR concept in linking GTL with workers task performance in hotel industry. Our study showed that supervisor leadership style can help the firm to engage in sustainability practices which enable workers to improve their performance. Literature on CSR calls for more research to explore about the causes and consequences of it. Responding to those calls, we proposed and tested a model wherein GTL links with CSR and thus affects workers performance. Implications and future research directions are discussed.
