Abstract

Emotional support is an individual's emotional experience and satisfaction is related to circumstances. Family emotional support is a very important social support in helping patients deal with stressors or problems they are facing. Emotional support includes expressions of empathy, caring, affection and concern for the person concerned. This emotional support provides a sense of comfort, peace of heart, a feeling of being loved for someone who gets it. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between family emotional support and adherence to discharge planning treatment in diabetic patients in Griya Luka Pringsewu. Cross-sectional descriptive research was conducted at Griya Luka Pringsewu. The sampling technique used in this study was consecutive sampling of 37 respondents. Data were taken using the Family Support questionnaire and the Discharge Planning compliance questionnaire. Both of these questionnaires have been tested for validity and reliability. The results of this study showed that family emotional support was related to patient compliance in carrying out Discharge Planning for Diabetes Mellitus patient care. In Conclusion there was correlation between family emotional support and patient compliance.
