Abstract
During controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) for in vitro fertilization (IVF), human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is administered to induce oocyte maturation approximately 34-36 hours before oocyte aspiration. One method to ensure the proper administration and absorption of HCG before aspiration is to measure serum HCG levels one day following HCG dosing. Two small studies have suggested that HCG may vary with body mass index (BMI), but the clinical significance has not been well described (1, 2).
