Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship among parental social support, physical self-efficacy and sport commitment of figure skaters. The participants of this study consisted using of 147 figure skaters who 10-18 years old with more than 3 years experience of figure skating competition using ice rink located in Seoul and Gyeonggi area. The method of the statistical analysis used in this study were technical statistical analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and structure equation modeling. As the results, the following conclusion was derived. First, it was discovered that parental social support of figure skaters had static influence to physical self-efficacy. Second, it showed that parental social support of figure skaters had static influence to sport commitment. Third, it showed that physical self-efficacy of figure skaters had static influence to sport commitment. This study was conducted to provide psychological base material that can be used in the actual figure skating field so that the skater’s athletic performance can be maximized by identifying the correlation among parental social support, physical self-efficacy, and sport commitment.
