Abstract

Web tension is the basis of the printing quality in shaft-less drive gravure printing systems. In gravure printing section, the drying devices are installed behind each printing roller for drying the printing ink on the web. As the web material is bi-oriented polypropylene (BOPP) which is sensitive to temperature, the drying system has greatly influence on the web tension in the printing section. Therefore, the relation between drying system and web tension between two adjacent printing rollers is studied in this paper. Based on the law of mass conservation, the tension model including dying system is derived, and then some theoretical analyses and simulations are carried out to in-depth research the influence of dying system on the web tension between two adjacent printing rollers. The research on the relations between drying system and web tension would benefit the tension control for further study.
