Abstract
SUMMARYThe conidial form of Glomerella cingulata found on cotton bolls in Uganda was avirulent on undamaged bolls at normal humidity but formed a latent infection which became aggressive when the bolls were put in a saturated atmosphere. Mechanical damage and injury caused by insects feeding were associated with extensive rotting by the fungus at normal humidity. The taxonomy of the fungus is discussed.
