Abstract
Radial chromatographic investigations carried out on various cations, using as complex-forming mobile phase a mixture of benzoylacetone-butanol-nitric acid, make it possible to establish a linear relation between the ionic concentration and the total optical density considering as such the triangular area enclosed by the densitometric curves. The position of the maximum of the latter shows an increase in the number of the ions towards the outside of the band, detectable also by direct observation of the chromatogram as a thickening of the colour.
