Abstract

When asked to rehabilitate a 45-year-old dam that provides the city of Greensboro, North Carolina, with most of its drinking water, engineers responded with an innovative plan that called for using the dam as an upstream cofferdam and diversion control structure while the dam’s crumbling spillway was replaced.
