Abstract
The reduction mechanism of Cu(II) complexes of histidine and β-alanyl histidine was studied by sampled dc, cyclic, normal pulse and reverse pulse voltammetry at mercury electrodes. A variety of kinds of evidence, that the two-electron reduction occurs through two consecutive steps with an intermediate Cu(I) complex stabilized by adsorption at the mercury surface, is presented and discussed.
