Abstract

It has been shown that the reduction of alkyl halides at a lead electrode in dimethylformamide containing a sodium salt as the inert electrolyte is an efficient method for the synthesis of lead alkyls. The mechanism of the cathodic reduction has been probed using a pulse technique and analysis of the resulting current-time transients.
