The Redistricting Discovery Project: Automated, Non-Partisan Generation of Redistricting Maps to Assist Public Deliberation

Abstract

The purpose of the Redistricting Discovery project is to facilitate public deliberation on legislative redistricting. The specific and distinctive aspect of the project is to do this by: (i) Generating and making public multiple redistricting plans, and (ii) Providing data and software for evaluating and comparing different plans, especially with regard to socially important attributes such as voting efficiency and cohesion of communities of interest and to expose partisan and commercial advantages.
