Abstract

Red Sea and Sinai Mountains are characterized by several distinctive forms which are not repeated elsewhere—except for the erosion surfaces which are found also in the Western Desert. These unique forms are as follows: dyke swarms, intermountain basins, ring complexes circular mounts, old erosion surfaces, and lacustrine terraces of Wadi Feiran in Sinai Mountains. Each of these features developed under certain structural/ environmental conditions. Their significance is derived not only from their geomorphologic characteristics, but also from their implications for past climates.
