Abstract
Measurements of isothermal remanence and of heavy metal concentrations are presented for two recent moss-increment dated cores from hummocks of ombrotrophic peat from Regent Street Bog. Fredricton, New Brunswick, Canada. The magnetic record from both profiles appears to be closely related to the documented history of industrial and urban development in the region. The heavy metal record displays greater variation between elements and profiles and mirrors less consistently the documentary record. Some vertical mobility within the peat column is inferred for all the metal elements measured.
