Abstract

We report on the design and test of a plunger device suited for the determination of g-factors of short-lived high-spin states via the Recoil Distance Transient Field method. A first successful application of the device in combination with five EUROBALL cluster detectors is presented for the case of the 2491 keV 21/2 + state in 87Nb.
