ROBINSON is Professor of Theology and New Testament at the Southern California School of Theology at Claremont He received the D.Theol. summa cum laude from the University of Basel, under Karl Barth. He has also studied under Rudolf Bultmann, Oscar Cullmann, Walter Eichrodt, and Emil Brunner. Dr. Robinson is serving this Summer as Guest Professor at the University of Zürich. He is author of A New Quest of the Historical Jesus, now appearing in German and French editions, and is engaged as co-editor of New Frontiers in Theology: Discussions Among German and American Theologians and of Theologische Forschung: Wissenschaftlichte Beiträge sur kirchlich-evangclischen Lehre. The present contribution is based on a paper delivered at the National Meeting of the National Association of Biblical Instructors held at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, December 29–30, 1961.
