Abstract

The hierarchy of the formation of a more complex system from a less complicated one is considered based on the association of another neighboring entity of the same order with the latter, a circumstance that is actually the raison d’etre for a less complicated system, while also being an integrative property of a more complex whole. We suggest that communication be understood as a property of any system, which would enable one to perceive the nature of the system as being an integrated whole consisting of its three integrated components, i.e., inanimate nature, animate nature, and society. The difference between the concepts of a library as an organization and of a library as a social institution is emphasized. A unified model of a social institution is proposed based on the respective organizations.
