Abstract

The purpose of this study is to generate ethical insights on the professional military ethics of the Korean Army, highlighting a unique aspect of the identity and role of the officers of the Korean Army, as they are the cohort of leaders who have shaped the Army since its establishment. The study also attempts to answer the question of what kind of soldiers we need for a rapidly changing security environment. In order to answer that question, this study focuses on the practices and debates of each members of the Korean Army (Officers, NCOs, and Army Civilian), and suggests a possible direction to develop their professional ethics.
