Abstract

Objective To study the biologic characteristics of the patients with primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG).Methods Biologic structure, including the anterior chamber depth, lens thickness, length of vitreous and axial length, were measured in 66 eyes with acute PACG,31 eyes with chronic PACG and 81 eyes of normal controls by A-mode ultrasonic scanning. The diameter of cornea and corneal curvature was also measured. All mean values were analyzed. Results There were significant differences between eyes with PACG and normal eyes in all items.Acute PACG had the shallowest anterior chamber, had the shortest vitreous and axial length. Conclusions The PACG eyes had a smaller cornea, larger corneal curvature, shallower anterior chamber depth, thicker lens thickness, shorter axial length and more forward relative location of lens. Key words: Glaucoma; Angle-closure; Ultrasonic measurement
