Abstract
The real parts of the central and spin-orbit optical potential are calculated for 40 MeV protons on 40Ca, 58Ni, 120Sn and 208Pb to first order in the two-nucleon effective interaction. Two estimates were used for the effective interaction. The first estimate was obtained from the impulse approximation and the second from the “bare” effective shell-model interaction as calculated by Kuo and Brown and by Green.
