Abstract

The article presents a comparative analysis of the image specifics of an ‟ideal” and ‟real” parent among a young people group and adults with parenting experience, 89 young people and 56 adults took part in the study. The ‟ideal parent” image has similar features among a young people group and adults is associated with a pedagogical competence high level, first of all. The ‟ideal parent” is able to interact with children effectively. Adult respondents tend to idealize the image more than young people. Adults also place stricter requirements on the qualities of a ‟real parent”. Among a young people group the ‟real parent” image is associated with the ability to understand and be patient, with parental competence. Among an adults group the ‟real parent” image, the ability to fairly assess various situations of interaction with a child, trusting relationships and patience are significant.
