Abstract
Abstract It was found that various kinds of α-substituted carbonyl-stabilized sulfonium ylides were conveniently prepared from the corresponding sulfonium salts by treating with 50% aqueous sodium hydroxide. The reactions of sulfonium ylides with succinic anhydride afforded furofuran derivative by one step procedure in yields ranging these from 5 to 14%. The structures of furofuran derivatives were confirmed by IR spectrum, NMR sepctrum, degradation, and its behavior toward alkali and acid.
