Abstract
The reactions of resorcinol with isoprene gave prenylresorcinols ([1] and [2]), 2, 2-dimethylhydroxychromans ([3] and [4]), 2, 2-dimethylhydroxyprenylchromans ([5] and [6]) and dichromans ([7] and [8]). The fair amounts of the products in which the prenyl group was attached to 2-position of resorcinol were obtained under suitable conditions.On the basis of the results under various reaction conditions, the reaction schemes were discussed.The dehydrogenation of compound [8] with DDQ(dichlorodicyanobenzoquinone) gave chromene [9] and dichromene [10].
