Abstract
The additions of methyl, ethyl, and isopropyl radicals to allene in the gas phase have been studied by the āaldehyde method.ā Additions occur exclusively at the terminal carbon atoms in allene, with rates in accordance with the following Arrhenius parameters, based on zero activation energies and assumed or experimental A-factors for the combination reactions of the alkyl radicals: [graphic omitted] There is no evidence for isomerisation of the alkenyl adduct radicals produced in these reactions.
