PhSeF adds to norbornene predominantly in a trans-manner to give non-rearranged 2, 3-selenofluorination adducts, 4 and 5, corresponding to exo- and endo-attack. In contrast, PhSeF 3 gives mainly the products of cis-exo-addition, 6, along with the Wagner-Meerwein rearrangement product, 7.
