Abstract

Abstract The reaction of cyclohexanones with copper(II) bromide gave polybrominated cyclohexanediones in all cases except for the case of 3,5-dimethylcyclohexanone. Moreover, in this reaction, a pyrocatechol and a phenol derivative were obtained from 4-methyl- and 3,5-dimethylcyclohexanone respectively. The mechanism of this reaction was discussed.
