Abstract

The pulse-height response of organic scintillators to α and β particles has been measured in an effort to find the optimum detector of neutrons in the MeV region. The 5.3 MeV α particles from Po 210 were used to simulate the knock-on protons produced under neutron irradiation. The pulse height response of several plastic and liquid scintillators is compared to that of a commercially available product.
