Abstract

The β-glucans in non-endospermic tissues of field-grown oat plants have been studied in relation to plant maturity. There is a fall in the ratio of β(1→3) to β(1→4) d-glucosidic linkages in the β-glucans in the total hemicelluloses isolated from stem, leaf and hull tissues of increasing maturity.
