Abstract

The aim of this research was the evaluation of 20 new potato cultivars (Ametyst, Annabelle, Antoinet, Aruba, Bosman, Carrera, Cecile, Finezja, Flaming, Gloria, Jutrzenka, Kuras, Sagitta, Soplica, Tetyda, Tucan, Vineta, Wiarus, Zagloba, Zuzanna) on increasing risk of potato tuber infection with PVY and PVM in successive reproducing years under the field conditions. The research was carried out in Bonin near Koszalin (north Poland) in the years 2007–2010. The obtained results showed that cultivar Zagloba is more resistant to PVY and the cultivar Vineta was definitely more susceptible as compared to currently accepted assessments of these cultivars. Cultivar Jutrzenka showed a high level of resistance to PVM and was comparable with the cultivars which possessing the Rm gene. The cultivars Kuras, Carerra, Soplica and Tetyda showed highly susceptible.
