Abstract
In Raman fiber amplifiers, due to the strong pump power, the self-steepening effect and Raman non-gain term should be taken into account even for the pico-second pulse's transmission. A model including these effects is established based on the resonant and no-resonant terms of cubic susceptibility tensor (x(3)). These extra effects will result in the requirement of strict dispersion compensation, which means the second-, third- and fourth-order dispersion should be compensated exactly. Till 95% of the fourth-order dispersion is compensated, 80fs pulse can keep its shape successfully after 2000m transmission in Raman amplifiers.
