Abstract

This paper describes a re-examination of the Quaternary stratigraphy and palaeoenvironments represented by the well known raised beaches and shore platforms of Tor Bay. A complex history of head formation and sea level change is identified. Major problems of correlation and dating within Tor Bay and with sites farther afield in southwest Britain still remain.
