Abstract

The radiation impedance of a rigid annulus vibrating in an infinite rigid plane baffle has been developed: (a) in terms of cylindrical wave functions using the method of L. V. King, and (b) using the Green's function to evaluate the pressure field as was done by N. W. McLachlan. The expression for the radiation impedance is resolved into the resistive and reactive components; these are given in terms of Bessel, Struve, and hypergeometric functions. Curves giving the radiation impedance as a function of ka (where k is the wave number and a is the outside radius of the annulus) for certain ratios of the radii of the annulus are given.
