Abstract

The corporate policies and worldwide expansion of Esab AB and The Lincoln Electric Company, the world's leading welding companies, are described. The emphasis is on the role of financial resources, executive action, and corporate environment in handling the overcapacity crisis from the late 1970s to the mid 1980s and the deepening globalization thereafter.
