Abstract

With the recent publication of the Scientific Monograph of the Quebec Task Force on Whiplash-Associated Disorders, a baseline of clinical and scientific information was established. However, of the substantial number of publications reviewed by the Task Force, only a few met a priori scientific criteria for admissibility. This lack of scientific evidence placed some important limitations of the ability of the Task Force to recommend preventive, dianostic and therapeutic measures for the management of whiplash and its associated disorders. In order to advance knowledge on this major public health problem, there will have to be a substantial improvement in the quality of published research.
