Abstract

VITAMIN G has been shown to be required by the chick for normal growth. Furthermore, the quantitative requirement for the growth-promoting factor of the vitamin G complex has been reported by Norris and co-workers (1936). In this report the requirement to enable chicks to reach maximum weight at four weeks of age is given as approximately 325 units per 100 grams of feed, at six weeks as 300 units and at eight weeks as 290 units. The data do not show clearly the requirement for two weeks of age since the slope of the curve is too gradual to correctly interpret the same and since the chick carries some reserve at the time of hatching. The requirements just indicated refer to the amounts of vitamin G needed to reach maximum weight at the ages named when a single level of vitamin G is provided. The requirement, however, is not constant .
