Abstract

This letter discusses the SQS (self quenching streamer) formation mechanism and its transition condition. Our theory shows that the condition of SQS formation is identical to the well-known Meek's condition of the streamer formation. We give the quantitative prediction of the transition voltage, and calculate the dependence of SQS formation voltage V tr on the gas concetration, pressure, and the diameter of the anode wire. These calculations produce an exact correspondence to the experimental data. The transition phenomena are presented analytically for the first time in the SQS physics.
