Abstract

Quantitative and semi-quantitative assay procedures have been devised or adapted to measure excretion of isoprenaline metabolites in human urine after isoprenaline administration. The metabolism of DL-isoprenaline in man has been studied using these methods. Metabolic inactivation appears to take place predominantly by sulphate conjugation, with a much smaller degree of O-methylation, whether the drug is given orally (sub-lingual or sustained release tablet) or by aerosol.
