Abstract

ABSTRACTFollowing a recent study describing the overall quality and status of library and information science (LIS) research in the United States as mediocre, there is a need to examine the quality and status of Australian LIS research. The first part of this article provides a brief overview of some international examples of recent LIS research enhancing the knowledge base of the field and the future practice of information professionals. The second part of the article proposes a study to assess the quality and status of Australian LIS research.
