In Reply. —The study was designed for the purpose of ascertaining the relationship of a single variable, the qualifications of medical technologists, and the quality of laboratory results. From Dr Peddecord's comments it seems that he is accustomed to using parametric statistical techniques such as multiple regression. Multiple regression makes assumptions about the sample distributions. If these assumptions are violated, then the results must be suspect.
