Abstract

The article presents the discussions about export-oriented agrarian and land policy, theory and practice, various scientific approaches to the development of the agricultural sector of the economy, and scenarios for the spatial development of agricultural land use, namely: conservative with a continuing trend of further shrinkage of the developed space and staying on the lower level of agricultural sown areas as it has taken place in recent years in most regions of the Russian Federation, with the growth of sown areas in the most favorable regions, and the preservation of the disproportion in agricultural activity in prosperous and depressed regions; polarized spatial development of agricultural land use based on leading regions and large agglomerations connected by a developed system of transport communications based on the creation of macroregions; model of growth based on inner sources of development of agricultural land use for each region; and the permanently widespread unsustainable agricultural land use leading to the degradation of productive agricultural land.
