Abstract

A quintet of states with I π = 3− 2 , 5− 2 , 7− 2 , 9− 2 , 11− 2 in 57Co is studied by coupling the f 7 2 , s 1 2 and 3 2 proton-hole states with quadrupole and octupole core vibrations. The single-hole energies and the deformation parameters β λ are taken from experiments on 58Ni. Most of the observed features of the quintet are successfully reproduced.
