Abstract
Despite the success of Margaret Thatcher in leading her party to three consecutive election victories there are some in the Conservative party who still believe that Thatcherism is an aberration, a deviation from the broad highway of the Conservative tradition, and that sooner or later the Conservatives will return to the politics and values represented by Harold Macmillan and Edward Heath.
